Alinea Dance Company

"A New Train of Movement"

About:

NESD’s Performing Company provides performing opportunities, educational experiences and intensive training for motivated students who love to dance! Dancers ages 7 & up are welcome to audition and will be placed by NESD’s knowledgeable staff in an appropriate level for them to flourish as young artists! Performing Company students will have the chance to work with award winning choreographers and participate in competitions, conventions, festivals and performances throughout the year! Our environment is nurturing and encouraging to all dancers and we invite you to become a part of our family!

Tiers:

Petite Performing Company

Gives young dancers the opportunity to experience the excitement of performing in an encouraging and motivational environment! Dancers will learn two, age appropriate pieces and perform in two competitions per year! If interested in a solo, dancers will be required to attend the July 25th audition and specify their preferred style/genre on the audition form. PPC dancers will rehearse on Monday’s from 5:00-6:00pm.

ALINEA II

Provides unique training and opportunities for dancers who are ready to share their technique, artistry and passion on the stage! Dancers will be chosen for a minimum of two ensemble pieces and may qualify for one-two solos and/or a duet/trio. ALINEA II will rehearse on Thursday’s from 5:30-7:30pm and participate in 3 mandatory competitions, a potential dance festival, NESD performances and optional events as well!

ALINEA I

Provides advanced dancers with opportunities to take their performing experience to a higher level. Dancers will make many discoveries in their artistic and technical abilities teaching them that the possibilities are endless! Exposure to other talented dancers, choreographers and master classes offers a fantastic educational element. Dancers will be chosen for a minimum of two ensemble pieces and may qualify for one-three solos and/or a duet/trio. ALINEA I will rehearse Thursday’s from 5:30-7:30pm and participate in 3 mandatory competitions, a potential dance festival, NESD performances and optional events as well!

Nationals:

Nationals are held in the summer at the end of a competition season and give dancers the opportunity to perform their pieces one last time in a challenging and highly inspirational atmosphere! The event is usually four days – one week-long and is held in a large venue with multiple stages. Dancers will realize their true potential by experiencing master classes, scholarship programs and tough competition! Nationals are optional but highly encouraged for all tiers. In the circumstance that all dancers in a tier attend the national event chosen for that year, they will perform ensemble pieces. Dancers may also attend as soloists and if there are enough dancers interested, we will form a “Nationals Team” ensemble piece(s).
