Audition Day

Arrival & Check-In

Please arrive 15–20 minutes before your scheduled audition time to allow time for check-in and warm-up.

Dancers should arrive fully dressed and ready to dance.

A parent or guardian must accompany dancers under age 13 to check in.

What to Wear

Girls

  • Leotard

  • Ballet pink tights

  • Ballet slippers

  • Pointe shoes, if applicable

  • Hair secured neatly in a bun

Boys

  • White T-shirt

  • Black tights or athletic shorts

  • Ballet slippers

Please do not wear jewelry or baggy clothing.

The Audition Process

Auditions will be conducted in an age-appropriate ballet class format.

Dancers will work with our faculty on ballet technique, musicality, movement quality, and performance skills. Faculty will guide and observe dancers throughout the class to determine the roles and casting that best suit each dancer's age, training, strengths, and performance qualities.

Remember: Every current ballet student will be part of the production. The audition determines role placement only.

Dismissal

Dancers will be dismissed at the end of their scheduled audition time.

If a dancer is asked to stay and audition with the next age group, a faculty member will speak with their parent or guardian before they remain.

Dancers under age 13 must be picked up by a parent or guardian inside the building.

Casting Results

Casting decisions will be sent by email the week following auditions.

We appreciate your patience while our faculty thoughtfully considers each dancer and works to create a production that gives every student an appropriate and meaningful role.

Rehearsals

Most Nutcracker rehearsals will be held on Fridays and Saturdays beginning September 26th.

Certain roles may require weekday or Sunday rehearsals scheduled around a dancer's regular class time when possible. Most students will not rehearse more than one day per week.

Regular ballet classes and rehearsals are an important part of preparing for the production. Missing multiple rehearsals can affect not only your dancer's role, but the entire group.

Please list all known conflicts on the Rehearsal Conflict Form prior to auditions.
